Mankessim is often referred to as the half way point on the drive form Accra to Cape Coast. When in reality it is about 2 hours from Accra and 40 minutes from Cape Coast. But many people still use it as a good stopping point to buy bread, kenkey, and octopus from the many street side venders close to the traffic roundabout and to fill up on fuel. But they are missing out on an opportunity for a peaceful wonderful stay on the hilltop overlooking the town and countryside at Manna Heights Hotel.

A great time to visit is during the Borbor Mfantse Akwanbo which happens annually around September each year.

Since Mankessim is so close to Cape coast it is a great base to use to explore many of the cultural and heritage sites of the area, and we even offer day tours of these sites.

Directions

Private car:

From Accra airport you will go north on liberation/independence avenue to the Tetteh Queshier Traffic interchange and then go West on the N1. You will continue on the N1 and take the overhead ramp at Mallam junction toward Takoradi and Cape Coast. Continue heading west on the Cape Coast highway until you reach the Mankessim Traffic round about where you will take the second exit continuing to Cape Coast. About 2 miles (3km) past the roundabout you will see a sign board on the left hand side from Manna Heights Hotel and Conference center. Take this left and follow to the next signboard and take a right into the entrance of the hotel up the hill.

Public Transportation:
You will have the option of taking any bus destined for Cape Coast or Takoradi. These leave from Kaneshie station and will leave when the bus is full of passengers. If taking the larger coach buses often the Takoradi buses will fill faster than the Cape Coast buses and leave sooner so for a little extra money it is often worth the convenience of taking the Takoradi bus. The other good option is the Ford vans also air-conditioned they fill fast and you can get one going to Cape Coast.

After choosing your transport and getting on your way you will let the driver/mate know that you will alight just after the Mankessim traffic roundabout. There you will hire a taxi cab for the short trip to Manna Heights Hotel.
